Feng Zhi-Qiang

Mr. Feng Zhi-Qiang was born in 1928 to a family of martial arts in Sulu County in Hebei Province. He exercised Shaolin Quan, Boy Exercise and Tongbei Quan as early as a child, and in 1948, became the apprentice of Master Hu Yao-Zhen, a Qi Gong master in China, to learn Qi Gong of Taoist School, Taiji Stick & Ruler Qi Gong, Six Coordination of Mind and Will, Inhalation and Exhalation Skill. In 1953, He became the apprentice of Master Chen Fake, the seventeenth generation of Chen Style Taiji Quan to learn Chen Style Taiji Quan. With the elaborate enlightenment of these two masters and hard practice combining Qi Gong with Taiji Quan for dozens of years, he generalized a successful road along which he attained the acme of perfection and was called "Giant of Qi Gong".

He is not only consummate in skills, but also achieved a lot in research of the technical theory. He had compiled and published "Taiji Integrated Primary Qi Gong", "Attack With Chen Style Taiji Quan under Actual combat", "An Introduction to Chen Style Taiji Quan", "Forty-eight styles of Chen Style Taiji Quan", which all became popular books.

Aimed at spreading and improving the development of Qi Gong and Taiji Quan, Mr. Feng Zhi-Qiang made exchange teaching of Qi Gong and Taiji Quan in over 20 provinces and cities at home, held All-nation Qi Gong Course by correspondence and face-to-face instruction. In 1979, he went to Chenjiagou to impart the skill of Chen Style Taijianquan at the invitation of Chenjiagou of Wen County in Henan Province, the place of origin of Chen Style Taiji Quan. He also had been to America, Mexico, Japan, Singapore, Finland, Sweden, and Spain to teach Qi Gong and Taiji Quan and exchange techniques of them, and was appointed as honorary chairman, honorary professor, and consultant of more than ten Qi Gong and martial arts associations. He has devoted himself to the teaching of Qi Gong and Taiji Quan for a long time and trained a lot of students for the country and world. Therefore, he made outstanding contributions in carrying forward of Chinese culture, disseminating and promoting the development of Chinese Taiji Quan and Qi Gong.

Mr. Feng Zhi-Qiang has been selected as the president of Beijing Chen Style Taiji Quan Research Society, the vice-chairman of Beijing Martial Arts Association, and committee member of China Martial arts Association as result of his profound attainments in the research of Qi Gong and Chen Style Taiji Quan. He, as a powerful and influential martial arts master in Chinese martial arts field, has won the respect and appraisals of numbers of Qi Gong and Taiji Quan fans both at home and abroad. Owing to his achievement in the martial arts world, Mr. Feng Zhi-Qiang is thought highly of and commended by the high officials of our country. Mr. Wan Li, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China and Mr. Rong Gao-Tang, the leader of the State Sports Committee have met with him.
